East Wenatchee, WA – The Chelan-Douglas Health District (CDHD) has hired Dr. Kristen Hosey as the new Health District Administrator to lead the two-county agency.
“After a thorough interview process, I am pleased that the Chelan-Douglas Health District Board unanimously approved to offer the Administrator position to Dr. Kristen Hosey.” said Jerrilea Crawford, Chair for the Board of Health. “Her experience in public health and ability to build successful programs stood out as key qualities that will guide our organization towards continued success. I am excited for the next chapter for CDHD and the opportunity to work with Dr. Hosey.”
CDHD conducted a nationwide search for a Health District Administrator. An interview panel that included CDHD agency Directors, Board of Health members and community leaders selected the top three (3) candidates through a vigorous interview process. The top three (3) candidates were invited to participate in a Special Board of Health meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn on Friday, May 17, 2024. However, one (1) candidate withdrew prior to the event. Candidates participated in a social meet and greet, presented to the group on Washington State Foundational Public Health Services (FPHS), and followed up with two interview questions. The announcement came after an executive session at the Board of Health meeting on Monday, May 20.
Dr. Kristen Hosey has served as the Interim Health District Administrator following the resignation of Luke Davies in March 2024 and as the Deputy Health District Administrator since July of 2023.
Dr. Hosey received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Advanced Practice Community Health Systems Nursing at the University of Washington (UW). She has worked with community agencies engaging with tribal communities around health disparities. She spent much of her DNP clinical practice working on breast cancer survivorship, and other chronic conditions, health disparities, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with American Indians/Alaskan Natives in the Pacific Northwest.
Dr. Hosey is a board-certified advanced public health nurse (PHNA-BC) and has demonstrated leadership in global health and health policy through her work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the World Health Organization both locally and in Sub-Saharan Africa. She has lived in Sub-Saharan Africa, and has collaborated on healthcare projects, policy, and nursing education in over 18 countries since 2008. While a student and then Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington (UW), she also partnered locally with Coastal Salish sovereign nations in program development activities that targeted health disparities. Dr. Hosey still consults with the UW on global health, indigenous health, and community health nursing work, and is an alumni and working group/faculty member of the Afya Bora Consortium in Global Health Leadership.
