East Wenatchee, WA – On Wednesday, August 18, Gov. Jay Inslee announced a statewide indoor mask mandate and a new vaccination requirement for all employees working in K-12, most childcare and early learning, and higher education. View the full press release here.
Masking Mandate – Universal indoor masking will take effect Monday, August 23. The indoor mask mandate is an interim solution to the surge in COVID-19 cases and there are limited exceptions when face coverings will not be required. Click here to learn more about the limited exceptions.
CDHD is working with local fire districts to set up mask distribution sites. As of this communication, masks are available at Chelan Co. Fire District No. 3 (228 Chumstick Hwy in Leavenworth) and Chelan Co. Fire District No. 7 (232 E. Wapato Ave in Chelan). Please visit www.cdhd.wa.gov for future mask site locations.
Vaccine Requirement – All employees working in our state’s public and private K-12 schools will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 18. The Governor’s order allows employees to obtain a medical or religious exemption if needed. Learn more about the new vaccine requirement here.
Individuals seeking a COVID-19 vaccine can visit www.cdhd.wa.gov for vaccine clinics in Chelan and Douglas counties. Vaccination continues to be the main form of defense against COVID-19 and its variants.
