Announcing Upcoming Board of Health Vacancies – Applications Open for Community Seats

East Wenatchee, WA –

The Chelan-Douglas Health District (CDHD) announces that several Board of Health member terms will expire at the end of December 2025, creating opportunities for new members to join in guiding public health across Chelan and Douglas Counties.

Expiring seats include:

  • Position 5 – Large City Representative (Wenatchee Mayor’s Office)
  • Position 6 – Small City Representative (Douglas County rotation: Bridgeport, Mansfield, Rock Island)
  • Position 8 – Public Health/Health Care Provider Representative
  • Position 10 – Community Stakeholder Representative

In addition, Position 11 (Consumer of Public Health) currently does not have an alternate representative, and applications are encouraged for this role as well. Position 12 – Tribal Representative, appointed by the American Indian Health Commission in consultation with the Colville Confederated Tribes, also remains unfilled.

While CDHD will coordinate with the Wenatchee Mayor’s Office and Douglas County mayors for Positions 5 and 6, the Health District is actively recruiting community members to apply for Positions 8 and 10, as well as alternate positions.

Community Seats – Positions 8 and 10

  • Position 8 (Public Health/Health Care Provider): Applicants should live within Chelan or Douglas County and have a background in public health, healthcare facilities, or health care provider services.
  • Position 10 (Community Stakeholder): Applicants should live within Chelan or Douglas County and represent a stakeholder perspective, such as business,   nonprofit, or community-based service.
  • Alternates: Alternates for each seat are appointed alongside the primary representative and may serve in the member’s absence.

Board of Health terms are for three years and will begin in January 2026. Members are expected to attend monthly Board of Health meetings, currently scheduled for Monday afternoons at 2:00 p.m., and review meeting materials in advance. Appointments will be announced in the fall, allowing incoming members to attend meetings prior to the start of their official term.

How to Apply

Residents interested in applying should submit an application online through the Chelan-Douglas Health District website at https://www.cdhd.wa.gov/careers. Applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025 for full consideration.
