Free, drive-thru testing available Nov. 21-22
Wenatchee, WA – Upcoming drive-thru COVID-19 testing dates have been established in November and December to coincide with the return of college students to family homes for holiday breaks.
Free drive-thru testing will be at the Wenatchee High School parking lot, 1101 Millerdale Ave., Testing will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 21-22 and then again 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 19-20.
The testing isn’t only for college students; the community at large is encouraged to use the testing site as well.
Online pre-registration is preferred but not required for the testing, which is being done by Lifeline Ambulance. Pre-registration will reduce time at the testing site; onsite registration is available.
Ideally, college students should be tested prior to returning to the family home. Many Washington colleges and universities are offering COVID-19 testing. Families also should encourage their college students to quarantine the week prior to coming home, or to limit their gathering and wear a mask when interacting with others.
“If your college students can’t be tested prior to coming home, use our free testing site but be prepared to ask your students to wear a mask around the house until results are learned,” said Dr. Malcolm Butler, health officer with Chelan-Douglas Health District. “Or, better yet, ask them to quarantine in their rooms until they receive their results. The emphasis should be on keeping your household safe.”
Students experiencing COVID-19 symptoms when they arrive home should go to Confluence Health for a test. Information about area testing sites and COVID-19 symptoms is available on the CDHD website.
