WENATCHEE – On November 4, 2020, the COVID-19 Incident Management Team at Chelan-Douglas Health Distrcit (CDHD) was notified of two positive COVID-19 cases at Christopher House in Wenatchee, Washington.

CDHD provided test kits for the remaining staff and residents last Thursday, November 5, 2020. Of those who were tested, an additional 18 resulted positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Total positive tests are 20; all results have not yet been received.

As required, all staff members who tested positive are isolating at home. The positive residents are in isolation and any exposed residents are in quarantine separated from the residents who tested negative.

CDHD is working closely with Christopher House to provide additional testing kits and assess its personal equipment protection needs.

“Christopher House is grateful for the partnership of DOH and CDHD to limit the negative impact of COVID-19 on our community,” according to a statement by Christopher House. “We are taking extraordinary measures to ensure our staff and residents remain healthy and educated about the nature of this disease, and we strive to be a model for the community for how to effectively control an outbreak in congregate housing like ours.”

Public health would like to remind everyone to limit group gatherings as much as possible, keep a 6-foot distance from others and always wear a mask in public. Masking is the next best thing to a vaccine. For more information, please visit www.cdhd.wa.gov/covid-19 and follow us on Facebook & Twitter.
