Welcome
The Chelan-Douglas Medical Reserve Corps is part of a Nation-wide network of community-based, civilian volunteers established to help build public health response and capacity within the community. The MRC was formed after the September 11, 2001 attacks as a way for citizen volunteers to aid after a crisis. To date, the MRC is a network of over 300,000 amazing volunteers throughout the United States. The Chelan-Douglas Medical Reserve Corps was establish by Chelan-Douglas Health District and received approval by ASPR in December 2023.
Who can Join?
- Must be over the age of 18
- Complete a criminal background check
- Have an active phone number
What Would I do?
Volunteers with the CDMRC will participate in a variety of emergent and non-emergent operations. Assignments can vary widely based on volunteer availability and the nature of the situation. As a volunteer, you will always have the ability to accept or decline the assignment. CDMRC volunteers will prepare for and respond to public health emergencies by completing a variety of activities within the local emergency health systems in Chelan and Douglas counties.
How Can I Make a Difference?
Medical Reserve Corps Volunteers will participate in activities, such as:
- Community Shelter Support
- Health Screeners
- Medicator-Vaccinator
- Mass prophylaxis/vaccine clinics and PODS (Point of Distribution sites)
- Special Needs Leaders or Assistants
- Triage, treatment, tracking and transport coordinators
- Teach “Stop the Bleed”
- Staff First Aid Stations
- Participate in Preparedness exercises and events
- Network with Community Members
- Provide outreach to support community preparedness activities
Volunteers will develop practical knowledge about the scenarios you may face in a disaster or emergency.
How do I Join?
To register to become a Chelan-Douglas Medical Reserve Corps volunteer, applicants must complete the following:
- Submit the CDMRC Interest form
- Complete a CDMRC Volunteer Application
- Register via the Washington State Emergency Registry of Volunteers (WASERV) https://www.waserv.org/
- Complete required training
- IS-100: Introduction to Incident Command System
- IS-700: National Incident Management System (NIMS) an Introduction
- Mental Health First Aid
- Preparedness Training
- Complete Emergency Worker Registration
- Complete a Criminal Background Check
- Read the CDRMC handbook
- Sign required forms (confidentiality statement, photography release, etc.)
- Complete a Confidentiality Statement
Training, Classes & Exercises
MRC members will have access to online training materials via Train Learning Network. They will receive just-in-time task specific training depending upon their assignment. Required FEMA courses include:
- IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100
- IS-200.C: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response
- IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
