H1N1 Influenza Virus Risks

  

About 75 percent of the HINI flu deaths have occurred in people with underlying health conditions. Nearly 80 percent of those hospitalized are under 50. The median age of death is 37 in the 127 reported deaths. More than 99 percent of all flu cases in this nation are from the new strain.

  • Avoid normal activities, including work, school, travel, shopping, social events, and public gatherings.
  • If you are sick, CDC recommends that you stay home for 7 days after your symptoms begin or until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer.
