The Chelan-Douglas Health District, Chelan Emergency Management, Peshastin Water District and WSDOH are working together on the BOIL WATER order for Peshastin. Chelan EM sent out AlertSense and Facebook notices. Peshastin Water District distributed door hanger notices. CDHD environmental health staff notified all food, school and childcare establishments in the affected area. Peshastin-Dryden Elementary School is closed today.

Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria normally live in the intestines of people and animals. Most E. coli are harmless and actually are an important part of a healthy human intestinal tract. However, some E. coli are pathogenic, meaning they can cause illness, either diarrhea or illness outside of the intestinal tract. The types of E. coli that can cause diarrhea can be transmitted through contaminated water or food, or through contact with animals or persons.

Corrective Actions:

  • Conducted emergency disinfection of the system and chlorine sat for 24 hours prior to flushing.
  • After at least 24 hours, pull 2 sets of 5 satisfactory samples to lift the boil water advisory. Sample sets must be consecutive. If any sample in either set is unsatisfactory, the Boil Water Advisory remains in effect.
  • The first set of samples were collected on Sunday.

Until this BOIL WATER advisory is lifted please follow these steps:
